Yummy Mummies star Maria DeGeronimo’s partner was listed to face court on Tuesday accused of committing a ‘prohibited act with human biological material’

Yummy Mummies TV star Maria DeGeronimo’s partner has been charged with ‘prohibited conduct involving human biological material’ but says he knew nothing about the allegation.

Carlos Vannini is listed to appear Adelaide to face trial next month, although the details of the alleged offense remain unclear at a magistrates’ court this week.

The 39-year-old shot to fame on Yummy Mummies for indulging fiancee Maria with luxury items while running the signature cut barbershop in the South Australian capital.

Carlos was charged with committing a prohibited act involving human biological material against another man in Nailsworth, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, on January 29.

When the case was first mentioned Tuesday, he did not enter a plea to the charge, which usually involves spitting.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, Carlos said: ‘What are you talking about, I don’t have a court and I’m not charged with anything, what are my charges?’

‘Which is a prohibited act involving human biological material???? I don’t know what you are talking about… ,’ he wrote.

Carlos said he did not know the alleged victim named in court documents and declined Daily Mail Australia’s invitation to show him the indictment.

‘My lawyer will settle it,’ he wrote.

Maria and Carlos were the most controversial couple in Yummy Mummy, which aired on the Seven Network in 2017 and 2018, before it premiered on Netflix.

The program followed wealthy expectant mothers as they supported each other through pregnancy and parenthood. It was critically panned by critics and rated poorly.

An episode of the first season drew 755,000 viewers nationwide, a number that dropped to 207,000 in the eighth installment.

One reviewer called the project a ‘structured, contrived, empty, vacuous, pointless trip’.

Another wrote: ‘To call Yummy Mummies car crash television is to understate how vile, stupid, weird, poorly executed and dutifully offensive it is.’

Seven’s website said Maria is ‘privileged to be a well-kept woman, while her partner Carlos, a barber, lives a glamorous lifestyle’.

Carlos and Maria were known for their love of designer clothes and luxury cars. Carlos spent over $20,000 on Maria in one episode.

In another, Mariah celebrated the upcoming arrival of daughter Valentina with a $4,000 Versace-themed baby shower.

The website for Network Seven's Yummy Mummies described Maria as 'privileged to be a well-maintained woman and living a glamorous lifestyle funded by her partner Carlos, a barber'.

After the ceremony, Carlos presented Maria with a $7,000 cash ‘bouquet’ and $15,000 worth of jewelry.

“I know you don’t like flowers,” he told Maria. ‘So I gave you a bouquet.’

While Maria said Carlos worked as a ‘part-time’ barber, the motorcycle enthusiast took to Instagram to say he spent 45 hours a week at the signature cut barbershop.

Cosmopolitan called Mariah ‘the most outrageous and flamboyant cast member…and her lifestyle, frankly, has us very confused.’

‘A part-time barber’s salary doesn’t match the couple’s obsession with labels.’

Despite Yummy Mummies’ biggest stars, the pair did not return for its second season, with Carlos saying Maria was ‘not accurately portrayed’ in season one.

“Initially, we agreed to the show on the basis that it was an ‘observational documentary,’ as we understood our lives with an extra camera to document it,” Carlos said at the time.

‘However… not at all like that.’

Carlos and Maria announced their separation in September 2018, citing their appearances on the show as partly responsible for the demise of their four-year relationship.

‘Public pressures and judgments have had some effect.’ Carlos told Adelaide Now.

‘The pressures of the show and the producers’ expectations didn’t allow us the bonding time as a family that we needed as the TV crew was there all the time throughout the pregnancy and after Valentina was born.’

The split did not last and according to court documents Carlos and Maria still live in the four-bedroom house in Golden Grove, north-east of Adelaide, which featured in Yummy Mummies.

Maria, who was a beauty in the show, is now blonde. She and Carlos now have a son together.
