Weather Warning Beware of flooding west of DC following Wednesdays heavy storm
The Washington, D.C., region is predicted to see strong thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening, with the possibility of precipitation and floods.
Take an umbrella and water-resistant footwear with you. This morning will be dry. The high will be between 85 and 90 degrees.
Between 3 and 11 p.m., rain and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe, will travel from the north to the south. A weather alert has been issued by Storm Team 4.
Focusing on two eras is Storm Team 4. From 4 to 8 p.m., there is a risk of storms beginning east of the Blue Ridge and along Interstate 95. Later on this evening, keep an eye out for a complex of thunderstorms in the Shenandoah Valley and around Interstate 81.
From 3 to 11 p.m., regions west of Dulles International Airport, sections of Upper Montgomery County, and the Blue Ridge are under flood surveillance.
Metro Washington might receive a little over an inch of rain. In regions under flood watch, volumes are probably closer to 2-3 inches. After nightfall, the likelihood of flooding will be greatest, so use additional caution when travelling on Wednesday evenings.
Thursday will be overcast and quite chilly. A few rains are to be expected, especially in the morning.
