Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 Episode 9 Summary
Mob Psycho is unlike any other program currently on the air. As such, there is not much that can be described as “predictable”. We’ve already talked about how unique this show is, so imagine my surprise when a show like this was followed by a fanfiction episode that any fan could write. A few factors may account for this, including the show’s simple premise and the fact that the show had been building on it for a while.
Some even claim that it wouldn’t be as good without that predictability. When something is predictable, it means it follows the logical ups and downs of storytelling well and doesn’t try to turn the world upside down to tell a compelling story. Consider this: Predictability does not deserve the scorn it often receives from the general public.
Not only does the story follow the well-defined tropes we’ve all come to love, but it’s also coherent. That doesn’t mean that all predictable things are inherently good. It’s important to remember that just because something seems to be coming from afar doesn’t mean it should be dismissed. When Tsubomi dropped out of school after that year, Mob found himself in a now-or-never situation because of his crush on her.
Still, Mob wasn’t the only one who came up with a plan to get Tsubomi to confess his feelings. Shigeo learned that popularity comes at a price, and he would have to work far harder than he ever imagined to achieve what he had started. After being cornered, Mob decided to rely on the relationships he had built throughout the show and each character was brought back for season two.

Along with Reigen and Serizawa, we saw the Body Improvement Club, the Occult Club, Hanazawa, Mezato, and Ritsu return from the returning ensemble of supporting characters. Although he was prominently featured in the series’ promos, Serizawa has yet to appear in the episode. When Mob is mistakenly forced to leave the program, he appears to be a permanent successor.

For people who haven’t seen the episode, I’m intentionally ignoring some of the events that transpired in this episode. It’s to their benefit so they can watch the episode without being spoiled. As you probably already know, this is the final arc we’re getting with Mob Psycho, so it opened the door for a proper finale for the show. The show comes to an end telling the story that will end the entire experience, and it will be a satisfying, high-stakes finale.
