Apex Legends doesn’t get a new weapon every season to maintain game health

Respawn added weapons to Apex Legends with great haste. In the early seasons of the battle royale, new weapons were dropped with each release. However, the developers are pulling back the number of weapon releases to preserve the game’s healthy meta.

Apex Legends players were treated to many great seasons filled with new characters and weapons early on in the game’s existence.

The game started out with a decent selection of weapons, but over time new releases have distorted the meta – from the Charge Rifle to the Bocek to the Volt and the CAR SMG.

However, now the game is getting pretty crowded with weapons suitable for every ammo type and combat area. It’s 28 to be precise, and Respawn thinks that number is good enough to even the game at the moment.

So from now on, don’t expect new weapons every season of Apex Legends – only when you deem it necessary.

“We’re serving what’s right and wholesome for the game,” senior game designer Eric Canavese said during a season 14 press event. “I can’t talk about future plans, future weapons or anything like that, but we have to know that we’re always thinking about what’s right for the game, what the game needs, and if the meta is healthy.”

The CAR SMG, Apex Legends’ newest weapon expansion, was released in Season 11.

“Our goal isn’t just to push content into the game to tick off a seasonal delivery list, our goal is to make the game as good as it can be, and if that means the game needs a different weapon then we will.” we’re making a different weapon for it, but that will happen when it’s needed, not just on a seasonal basis.”

True to this philosophy, there will be no new weapon Apex legends season 14. However, there will be many changes to the game’s existing arsenal. The EVA-8 Auto shotgun will be reworked, the Wingman and Spitfire will change ammo types, and the Bocek and Rampage LMG will be vaulted.

There are also some minor balance changes here and there to try and keep things interesting, even if there’s no new weapon to really spice things up.

When will the next new weapon be introduced in Apex Legends? Players will have to wait and see what Respawn is up to at this point.
